Official Rules

THESE OFFICIAL RULES ARE THE SOLE RULES THAT GOVERN BROADWAY BOUND LIVE FOR THE 2019 SEASON.

 

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROMOTION. PURCHASE OF A TICKET OR SEASON PASS WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR ODDS OF (I) BEING SELECTED AS A CONTESTANT OR (II) WINNING A PRIZE. FURTHER, PARTICIPATION IN KATHARSIS MEDIA SHOWS, WORKSHOPS, CAMPS, OR INTERN PROGRAMS WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR ODDS OF (I) BEING SELECTED AS A CONTESTANT OR (II) WINNING A PRIZE. FOR FREE METHOD OF ENTRY, PLEASE SEE REGISTRATION SECTION BELOW. 

 

BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROMOTION (AS DEFINED BELOW), YOU HEREBY AGREE AND CONSENT TO THE FOLLOWING OFFICIAL RULES (“OFFICIAL RULES”), AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROMOTION WILL BE GOVERNED BY THE FOLLOWING: 

 

Sponsor: Broadway Bound Live is produced by, and the promotion is sponsored by KATHARSIS MEDIA, INC., 4121 Cutler Ave. NE, Suite K6, Albuquerque, NM 87110. The grand prize Director’s Scholarship is sponsored by the AMERICAN MUSICAL AND DRAMATIC ACADEMY, 211 West 61st Street, New York, NY 10023. 

 

Definitions, Overall Rules and Eligibility

  1. Definitions

    1. “Venue” shall mean the specific location where the individual attends the Show and/or registers for the Promotion. At the time of these rules, no venue is a sponsor of the Promotion. 

    2. “Producer” shall mean KATHARSIS MEDIA, INC.

    3. “Show” shall mean BROADWAY BOUND LIVE

    4. “Promotion(s)” shall include all on stage game play, all workshops, on camera journal sessions, or other sessions or events associated with the Show, as well as any audience giveaways as may be provided by Sponsor in its sole discretion. 

    5. “Eligible Individual” shall mean individuals who meet all criteria as set out in Official Rule #8 below.

    6. “Contestant(s)” shall mean Eligible individuals selected to participate as a contestant in rounds 2-8 of the Show. 

    7. “Registration Form” shall mean the registration form that each Eligible individual who wishes to enter the Promotion must complete, which includes the Eligible individual’s full name and date of birth. 

 

A. Eligibility Requirements:

You must be able to prove at the time of your registration and audition that: 

      1. You are a legal U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident who is eligible to work full-time in the United States;

      2. You are a graduating high school senior (class of 2020) 

      3. OR You have already graduated from high school AND

      4. AND are not older than 29 years of age as of August 17, 2019

      5. Is able to demonstrate financial need based on one of the following documents: 

      • Official letter of eligibility for SNAP/TANF benefits through the New Mexico State Human Services Department

      • Official documentation of eligibility for Free/Reduced lunch as provided by the school district the student attends (must be a High School senior)

      • Official statement of EFC of 07500 or lower on the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

      • IF IT IS FOUND THAT YOU IN ANY WAY FABRICATED OR TAMPERED WITH SAID DOCUMENTS OR PROVIDED FALSIFIED INFORMATION IN ANY MANNER, YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED

      1. You MUST be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of Producer that you do not have any of the following agreements in effect (written or oral): 

              • a current music recording contract; 

              • a current agreement relating to the use of your name, voice and/or likeness; 

              • an exclusive acting contract; 

              • or any other contractual arrangement that would prohibit you from fully participating in the show

      1. The following individuals are NOT eligible: 

        1. Any individual who has been prohibited from entering the Venue and/or any other properties owned or operated by the Venue

 

B. The Registration Process:

        1. You MUST sign up for an audition time slot using the registration form on our website at www.KatharsisMedia.org. All information concerning registration and audition locations, dates and times is tentative at this time. Continue to check our website DAILY for the most up-to-date registration and audition schedule and information.

        2. Registration will occur at the check in desk prior to your audition time slot. 

        3. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to your audition time slot to allow time for registration. 

        4. What to Bring to Auditions: 

          1. two forms of ID that show proof of your age and a photograph (for example, a birth certificate and driver's license or a birth certificate and a passport or a birth certificate and a school ID card). 

          2. For high school seniors, proof that you are a graduating senior (for example, a school ID card, official schedule, or transcript)

          3. Proof of Financial Need: Is able to demonstrate financial need based on one of the following documents: 

                  • Official letter of eligibility for SNAP/TANF benefits through the New Mexico State Human Services Department

      • Official documentation of eligibility for Free/Reduced lunch as provided by the school district the student attends (must be a High School senior)

      • Official statement of EFC of 05235 or lower on the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

      • IF IT IS FOUND THAT YOU IN ANY WAY FABRICATED OR TAMPERED WITH SAID DOCUMENTS OR PROVIDED FALSIFIED INFORMATION IN ANY MANNER, YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED

      • Release: Print out and sign the Release form provided at www.KatharsisMedia.org. This Release form will only be available in a limited supply at the audition venue, so please bring the signed form with you to the audition if at all possible.

      • Contestants Under 18 Years of Age:

          1. Contestants Under 18 Years of Age: If you will be under 18 years of age on the day you register and/or audition, your parent and/or legal guardian MUST accompany you to the registration and audition. In addition, your parent or legal guardian must bring a government-issued photo ID (for example, a driver’s license or passport). If you are accompanied by a legal guardian, as opposed to a parent, your legal guardian must bring proof of guardianship (for example, a court order). 

          2. If your parent or legal guardian is not available to accompany you to the registration and audition, your parent or legal guardian may appoint a guardian to accompany you to the registration and audition process. YOUR APPOINTED GUARDIAN MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OFAGE AND MUST ACCOMPANY YOU TO THE VENUE FOR THE REGISTRATION AND AUDITION DAYS. In order to appoint a guardian, your parent or legal guardian must complete, sign and have NOTARIZED the Guardian and Medical Authorization for Minors form which can be found at our website www.KatharsisMedia.org. You MUST bring the signed and notarized form to registration with you, along with your appointed guardian.

          3. Your parent or legal guardian must also sign and have NOTARIZED the Media Release. You MUST bring the signed and notarized Release with you to the audition, along with your appointed guardian. Your appointed guardian must also bring a government-issued photo ID (for example, a driver’s license or passport) to registration and the audition.

          4. Unless your appointed guardian has evidence of his or her authority to sign on your behalf, your appointed guardian MAY NOT sign the Release on your behalf. 

          5. The person who accompanies you to the audition (your parent or guardian) MUST sign a separate release form on their own behalf and bring their own photo ID (for example, a driver’s license or passport).

 

C. The Audition Process

It is anticipated that auditions will start no later than 10 minutes after your scheduled audition time slot. This is our goal, however, times are estimated. Please plan accordingly. 

 

  1. After you have checked in and filled out all applicable paperwork, you will sit in the designated waiting area for your name to be called.

  • Vocal Audition Selection: Be prepared to sing 32 bars of a song of your choice with piano accompaniment. You will need to provide sheet music. Please be sure to cut and clearly mark your music. It is helpful if the sheet music is in a binder so that the pages may be easily turned.

  • Acting Monologue: Please bring a copy of your prepared monologue for the judging panel. The monologue may be classic or contemporary and between 60-120 seconds in length. Be prepared to receive feedback / adjustments during your audition.

  1. Dance Auditions: Dance auditions will take place during the last ten minutes of your scheduled audition hour (at 11:50am if you are scheduled anytime from 11am-12pm). 

  2. What to Wear to the Auditions: Please do not wear any clothing or bring any items that have designer names, corporate or sports team names or logos, copyrighted images, celebrity names or images (living or dead),cartoon character images or inappropriate messages or words (for example, profanity). If you do wear such clothing, you may be required to remove it, turn it inside out or put on additional clothing to cover it. If you have any tattoos that contain any corporate or sports names or logos, copyrighted images, celebrity names or images (living or dead), cartoon character images or inappropriate message or words (for example, profanity), please cover the tattoo for your audition. Please wear/bring clothing that is comfortable and that you can move in for the dance audition. You will have the opportunity to change before the group dance audition. 

  3. Please ensure that all contact information is accurate, as we will notify all selected contestants no later than 10pm on August 24. 

  4. All selected contestants should plan to attend a meet and greet on August 25 from 7-9pm. The first challenge will be given at this event. We will have a live audience for this event, and contestants may bring up to 3 people. All live events are ticketed events. Tickets may be purchased on our website at www.KatharsisMedia.org

 

All rules and procedures are subject to change at producer's sole and absolute discretion.

 

D. Paperwork 

In order to participate in the auditions, you will be required to fill out, sign and agree to all of the terms and conditions of producer’s required forms. Some of the forms will be available on our website at www.KatharsisMedia.org. Your family and/or guests should also be prepared to sign releases concerning the possible taping and/or recording of their name, likeness, voice, conversation, etc. If you advance in the competition, you will be required by the producer to fill out, sign and agree to all of the terms and conditions of additional forms. You (and your parents and/or legal guardians in the case of contestants under 18 years of age) may also be subject to a thorough background investigation and other examinations, at producer's discretion. If you are under 18 years of age, both you and your parent or legal guardian must sign each of the forms and cooperate in having the forms court approved, if and when requested by producer. If you are under 18 years of age and you are accompanied to the audition by a guardian appointed by your parent or legal guardian, you must have the release signed and NOTARIZED by your parent or legal guardian with authority to sign on your behalf, and bring the signed and notarized Release with you to the audition. ALL FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY AND TRUTHFULLY. IF YOU FAIL TO COMPLETE ANY FORM, GIVE ANY FALSE INFORMATION, OR FAIL TO REVEAL ANY PERTINENT INFORMATION, YOU MAY BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE AUDITION PROCESS.

 

E. Disqualifications

We reserve the right to disqualify and/or exclude, in our sole and absolute discretion, any individual from any of the auditions for any reason or for no reason at all, including without limitation, violation of any portion of these rules, or tampering with the entry process or the audition process. We also reserve the right to change the rules and procedures at any time. Being chosen to audition and/or compete at any level in the process does NOT ensure that you will be selected to continue to the next stage.

 

F. Grand Prize: AMDA Director’s Scholarship

  1. By participating in this Promotion, contestants agree that they are ready and willing to move to New York City and utilize the scholarship if they win. In the event that the winning contestant is unable to do this for any reason, the scholarship will be given to the contestant with the next highest overall points. 

  2. AMDA reserves 

 

 

G. Show Details

  1. Show times for live events will vary, however no show will be less than sixty (60) minutes and no show will be longer than 150 minutes. Events open to the public will be posted on our website at least one (1) week in advance of the event. Occasionally, locations may be withheld and emailed to ticket holders separately.

  2. All live events are ticketed events. Tickets can be purchased in advance at our website or at the door. Advance tickets are discounted. 

  3. At some events, a contestant may be allowed to have a guest backstage. The guest will be required to purchase a ticket prior to being allowed backstage. Please plan accordingly. 

  4. All event details including times, locations, and rules, will be posted on our website on the Broadway Bound LIVE Backstage Portal. Contestants will be required to register as a website member and will be given a unique password to access the information. Do not give log in information to anyone. 

  5. The show consists of eight (8) rounds of elimination, with the first one being the general audition process. In the event that there are not twenty (20) potential contestants that audition, Katharsis Media reserves the right to adjust the number eliminated from each round. 

  6. In the event that a contestant is unable to continue in the game or is disqualified, the last person eliminated will be called upon to take the contestant’s place. If we are unable to fill the position with a previously eliminated contestant, open auditions will be held for an Eligible Individual.

  7. As Albuquerque is a small theatre community and as this is the first season of this show and it is not yet well known, it is likely that adjudicators and contestants may have worked together in the past or are connected in some way. In order to ensure as little personal bias as possible, the following precautions will be taken: 

    1. Katharsis Media will strive to advertise and recruit from as many avenues as possible. 

    2. All contestants and adjudicators will be required to fill out an information card that asks them to identify any and all connections to any adjudicator/contestant, respectively.

    3. Adjudicators with connections that are likely to produce a bias will not be allowed to vote for the contestant(s) that they have said connection with. 

 

H. General Conditions

By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the producer, the voting audience, and the panel of judges, which shall be final and binding. Your presence at the auditions, and the presence of your friends, family members, and anyone else accompanying you, constitutes your and their consent and agreement to the recording and use of your and their performance, appearance, name, voice, singing voice, likeness and any musical or sound effects produced by you and/or them for use in connection with any television program, motion picture, wireless/mobile device, or the Internet for all purposes (including advertising, marketing, promotion, merchandising and the exploitation of any and all ancillary and subsidiary rights), as the same may be edited, in all media now known or hereafter created, throughout the universe, in perpetuity for no compensation, unless otherwise required by law. IF YOU AND/OR YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY MEMBERS, OR ANYONE ELSE ACCOMPANYING YOU TO THE AUDITION, DO NOT WISH TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED, OR DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE TERMS, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE AUDITIONS AND DO NOT ENTER THE VENUE WHERE THE AUDITIONS ARE TAKING PLACE. Your and/or their attendance at the audition event will be conclusively deemed to be a waiver of any and all claims for invasion of privacy, defamation, etc. All federal, state and local laws apply. 

 

Audition dates and locations are subject to change. 

 

Katharsis Media, INC, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, www.katharsismedia.org, production personnel for the television program, participating television stations, advertising agencies or any person or entity connected with the production, administration or judging of the auditions or the program, or any of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, successors and assigns, and the respective officers, directors, employees, agents, contractors, partners, shareholders, attorneys, representatives and members of each of the foregoing entities are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: 

  1. any failure of transportation, incorrect directions, or the inability, for any reason, of any person to appear at an audition site or to audition or appear before the judging panels; 

  2. any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by traveling to or from the audition venues, being present at the audition venues, participating in the auditioning process or being selected to or disqualified from continuing in the auditioning process and/or the show; or 

  3. any printing, typographical or technological errors in any materials associated with the auditioning process. 

NO WEAPONS, ALCOHOL, OR NON-PRESCRIPTION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES WILL BE PERMITTED AT ANY AUDITION OR DURING THE COMPETITION
